Federal Government has mandated Steel manufacturers to adhere strictly to relevant Nigeria Industrial Standards in its productions.
The Director General, Standards Organization of Nigeria, SON, Ifeanyi Okeke made the call at a familiarisation visit and facility tour of the Abuja Steel Limited along Kaduna-Suleja road, Niger State.
Represented by the State Coordinator, Niger II State Office, Suleja, Maryam Samson, the SON boss said the agency is willing to partner steel manufacturers, importers and dealers to ensure that standards is maintained for the overall interest of the nation.
The SON helmsman, further emphasised that Iron rods and steel bars are categorised as Life Endangering Products due to its propensity of negative effects on Human lives as well as properties through building and structural collapse when they are substandard.
The Chief Liaison Officer, Abuja Steel Limited, Rahul Aggarwal, promised to ensure that standards is not compromised in the production of Iron rods.
High point of the visit was the tour of facility starting from the ware house of the raw materials for Iron Rods to the green energy farm as well as the production line for the Steel bars and iron rods.
