Nigeria-China Partnership: Tourism, Hospitality Key Foreign Earners – Jianxing
As the federal government grapples to move away from its dependence on oil as the nation’s major source of foreign earnings by diversify the economy, the Chinese government says the way out is developing the tourism sector.
The Cultural Counsellor, China Embassy who is also the Director, China Cultural Centre in Nigeria, Yang Jianxing disclosed this at a one-day Nigeria-China seminar on tourism, hospitality and culture.
He said Nigerian tourism and hospitality sector of the economy if properly harness by the government through quality investment is capable of addressing the huge unemployment challenge, create jobs as well as improve the nation’s foreign earnings.
Representative of the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Blessing Ogar, spoke on the transformative power of dialogue in driving global economy growth.
Some participants also spoke on also spoke on the opportunities inherent in the tourism and hospitality sector.
The seminar with the theme, “Promoting Nigeria-China Tourism, Hospitality, Culture Potential and Services for Sustainable Development Through China-Nigeria Cooperation” is one out of the numerous exchange programmes to strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries.
