NEPC: Nigeria Earns $2.7bn From Non-Oil Exports In 2024

The President Bola Tinubu led administration’s renewed hope agenda on growing the nation’s economy on a positive trajectory through the non- oil sector is already paying dividend.

The move was confirmed by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council who posted $2.7 billion as revenue earned from export of non-oil in the first half of 2024.

Presenting a progress report on Nigeria’s non-oil export performance to news men in Abuja, the Executive Director, NEPC, Nonye Ayeni said the figure showed a 6.26 percent increase compared to the $2.53 billion earned in the same period in 2023.

On product diversification and market reach, she said a total of 211 products were exported during the period under review.

The NEPC boss also added that there was growing prominence of newer export products such as fresh vegetables, citrus peel, and sorghum, which are gaining traction in the global market.

She stressed that the sector is positioned to contribute immensely to the country’s gross domestic product, increase the country’s foreign exchange earnings and ensure sustainable economic growth.
