A group of legal practitioners under the aegis of Concern Lawyers For Kanu has appealed to president Bola Tinubu to facilitate the release of the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu on health ground.
Briefing journalists in Abuja, the spokesperson for the lawyers, Barr Gabriel Egbule indicated that Kanu’s health condition is seriously deteriorating and that he needs urgent medical care.
Egbule who noted that Tinubu’s name will be written in gold if Kanu is released unconditional said gesture will calm the agitation for secession in the southeast.
It will be recalled that the Court of Appeal in Abuja had in 2022 ordered for Kanu’s immediate release from DSS detention and barred any court in Nigeria from hearing the charges on terrorism against him.
But not satisfied with the judgment, the Federal government quickly filed an appeal at the supreme court against the verdict which is pending at the Apex court.
