Investigative Panel Faults Bobrisky’s Jail Documentation Processes, Special Privileges

An investigative panel set up by Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunj-Ojo says there was no evidence suggesting that crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky slept outside the custodial facility during his six-month incarceration.

The Secretary of the panel, Uju Agomo, who disclosed this in Abuja while submitting the initial findings of the investigation to the Interior Minister gave an analysis of Bobrisky’s transfer from 12th April 2024 to 5th August 2024.

She affirmed that proper documentation of Bobrisky was not done during his transfer from Ikoyi Custodial Center to Medium center which according to her was a violation of Nigeria’s Correction Law.

The Panel’s Secretary added that findings also indicate that Bobrisky enjoyed certain special privileges while at the medium and maximum-security custodial centers.

Responding to the briefs on the report, Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunj-Ojo, said the Nigeria Correctional Service is key Institution within the national security architecture, as such any form of corruption, degrading treatment will not be acceptable.

He however, reassured Nigerians that isolated cases must be reported in other to create a service that will work for Nigeria.
