Nigeria Needs Policies To Guide, Support Good Parenting – NAPTIP

The Director General National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Prof Fatima Waziri says the agency is working with relevant stakeholders to reduce child abuse, trafficking and other negative vices in Nigeria.

Dr Waziri, gave the indication in Abuja at a one-day workshop on evidence based parenting support to help Nigerian parents raise their children to reach their full potential.

The event is organized by the Oxford Policy Engagement Network and the Global Parenting Initiative in collaboration with the Family Health Department of the Ministry of Health.

Waziri noted that the agency has offices in 32 states with 13 operational shelters that care for victims of human trafficking.

Other government officials that attended the workshop also shed lights on the issue of good parenting.

The need to have a national policy that will guide parents on how to protect their children against bad behaviour was top on the discussion at the workshop.
