The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says over 500,000 Nigerians have so far completed their online registration in the ongoing continuous voters registration exercise. INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu disclosed this at a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners at the Commission Headquarters in Abuja. Of the figure, the Inec boss said 456,909 are fresh registrants while 85,667 fall within the category of voter transfer, replacement of permanent voters cards and update of voters information card. Prof Yakubu also indicated component in the online exercise with provision on distribution of registrants across the federation. The INEC boss further reaffirmed plans to deploy 5,346 personnel to 2,673 centres nationwide for the physical registration exercise scheduled to commence on Monday 19,July 2021. The Commission once again assured of it’s commitment to spare no efforts in deepening the use of technology to enhance electoral transparency and credibility in the Country.
