167 Million Nigerians Lack Access To Hand Washing Facilities- WASHNORN Report.

The global handwashing day is an international campaign initiative to motivate and mobilise people around the world to improve their handwashing habits.

It also serve as a yearly reminder that handwashing with soap and water is one of the best way to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others.

According to the 2019 water, sanitation and hygiene national outcome routine mapping report, national access to basic hygiene services indicated by availability of hand washing facility with water and soap is 16 percent with an estimated 167 million Nigerians lacking access and disparity across locations and wealth quintiles.

As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to observe the day on Thursday October 15 2020,the minister of water resources Engr Sulieman Adamu said the theme for the global event ” Hand Hygiene for All” is aligned with the world health organisation recommendations for prevention and control of coronavirus aimed at building a culture of good hygiene practices that will last beyond the pandemic.
