As the petition against the outcome of last year’s Kogi State Governorship election climaxed at the court of Appeal, the need for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be diligent and transparent in the conduct of elections has once again been re-emphasized.

A group under the auspices of the Concerned Kogi Citizens Forum staged a peaceful protest raising concerns over the integrity of last year’s Governorship elections especially as it relates to the inconsistencies in the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

The protest train which kicked off from the unity fountain complex, terminated at the iNEC headquarters where some of the conveners took turns to express their grievances.

Meanwhile, INEC National commissioner, Modibbo Alkali was on ground to receive the protesters. He assured them that necessary actions will be taken to address the concerns raised.

Governor Ododo of the All Progressive Congress was declared the winner of the 11th November 2023 Kogi Governorship election by INEC.
