2025 UTME: JAMB Fixes Date For Mop-Up Examination.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has scheduled Saturday, June 28th, 2025 for the conduct of the 2025 UTME mop‑up examination.
This was announced in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Board’s Public Relations Advisor.
He explained that the exam will accommodate the 5,096 “spill‑over” candidates and those who failed biometric verification during the main exercise. Additionally, a special dispensation has been granted to absentee candidates from both the main and resit exams amounting to 91,742 individuals who will also participate in this mop‑up opportunity. In total, 96,838 candidates are being rescheduled for the mop‑up exercise in 183 centres nationwide, while the remaining centres remain on standby.
JAMB also announced that 113 CBT Centres have either been delisted or suspended nationwide.
“In addition to centres being delisted for technical deficiencies during the mock, UTME, and resit exams, a large number of CBT centres implicated in sharp practices are being suspended pending ongoing security investigations. Those found culpable will be delisted and referred for prosecution, including for multiple infractions during the main or resit exams.”
The Board expressed appreciation to security agencies, including the State Security Service (SSS), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), for their “extraordinary devotion, passion, and tenacity” in a nationwide investigation into identity theft and malpractice. The operation has led to the arrest and prosecution of numerous suspects, including some JAMB officials, professional exam takers, and syndicates linked to schools and tutorial centres, Dr. Benjamin said.
JAMB appealed for understanding from candidates, noting that a number of examination towns have been deactivated for the mop‑up exercise. Affected candidates will be reassigned to the nearest eligible town.
Dr. Benjamin also emphasized that the mop‑up exam presents an opportunity to apprehend impersonators, particularly current undergraduates posing as UTME candidates.
Institutions with implicated undergraduates are being notified to consider disciplinary action under matriculation oath violations, alongside prosecution under the Examination Malpractice Act (1999), which carries imprisonment penalties applicable even to underage students and their indulgent parents.
The statement further revealed that special squads of invigilators and security personnel are being deployed in continuation of the crackdown on exam misconduct part of the initiative championed by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON.
“The first session for the examination day starts, as usual, at 8:00am. Candidates for the 8:00am session are therefore advised in their own interest to arrive one or one and half hours before the actual commencement of the examination at 8:00am.
Also, eligible and genuine candidates are to print their examination notification slips from Monday, 23rd June 2025 in preparation for the mop up examination scheduled for Saturday, 28th June, 2025, Benjamin stated.
