The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced its annual preventive maintenance on two power transformers at the Sagamu Transmission Substation, resulting in temporary disruptions to electricity supply in some areas served by the facility.

According to TCN, the maintenance exercise involves the T1 and T2 30MVA 132/33kV power transformers and began on Thursday, September 3, 2026. The work will continue on Friday, September 4, 2026, with maintenance activities scheduled between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on both days.

The company said the exercise is part of routine checks designed to ensure the transformers operate efficiently and maintain reliable service.

As a result of the maintenance work on the T1 transformer, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) is unable to off-take electricity for customers in the REAL and Sagamu areas during the maintenance period on Thursday.

TCN also stated that customers supplied through the T2 transformer, including CEPLASS, NNPC/Ogijo, Metafrique and Babcock, will experience disruptions on Friday while maintenance is being carried out on the equipment.

The transmission company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience and assured that the exercise is necessary to enhance the reliability and performance of the power infrastructure.
