The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced an urgent maintenance exercise at its 330/132kV Gwagwalada Transmission Substation, resulting in a temporary power interruption in parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a notice issued on Wednesday, TCN said the maintenance would take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is aimed at enabling its technical team to carry out urgent work on the substation’s 33kV 6MVA earthing reactor.

The company explained that during the three-hour maintenance period, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) would be unable to receive power supply from the facility, leading to a temporary outage in several areas.

The affected locations include Aso Villa, Asokoro, African Medical Center, Kabusa, EFAB Estate, Apo Resettlement, Zone E Extension, Trademoore, and neighbouring communities.

TCN apologized to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience and appealed for their understanding as efforts are made to maintain the reliability of the transmission network.

The notice was signed by the management of the Transmission Company of Nigeria.
