NOA Reaffirms Commitment To Strengthening Nigeria’s Global Image

The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has reiterated the agency’s commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s global image through strategic value reorientation and identity projection.

Issa-Onilu, who was represented by the Director of Special Duties/States Operations, David Akoji, made this known while delivering a lecture at a three day induction ceremony for ambassador designates at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to a statement issued by the agency’s Director of Communication and Media, Bala Musa, the session centred on the National Identity Project and the National Values Charter, aimed at equipping the envoys with key insights ahead of their foreign postings.

The agency noted that the engagement highlights the need to embed Nigeria’s core values and identity framework within its diplomatic corps, positioning them as critical drivers of the country’s image and reputation globally.

The initiative follows the approval by the Federal Executive Council mandating compulsory orientation on Nigerian identity and the National Values Charter for newly appointed council members, legislators, and other government officials before assuming office.

NOA explained that extending the sensitisation programme to ambassador-designates forms part of its broader strategy on global perception management.

The agency expressed confidence that the move would strengthen the capacity of Nigeria’s diplomats to project a consistent and positive national image rooted in shared values, civic responsibility, and national cohesion.

The agency also reaffirmed its commitment to sustained engagement with stakeholders across sectors to promote responsible citizenship and a unified national identity.
