The Pension Correspondents Association of Nigeria, PenCAN has officially unveiled the maiden edition of its magazine “The Pensioner”.
Addressing the occasion, the Pension Operators Association of Nigeria called for enhanced awareness to bring the informal sector into the Nigeria’s Micro Pension Scheme.
The Chief Executive Officer, Oguche Agudah who spoke virtually to the maiden edition of the Pension Correspondents Association of Nigeria Magazine’s unveiling and Retreat in Abuja said the culture of savings must be at the forefront to ensure that contributors have something to fall back when they are old.
He said Nigeria has about 60% citizens in the informal sector that have not enrolled into the Contributory Pension scheme as such do not have retirement plans.
Some key stakeholders took turn to speak. Speaking earlier, President, PenCAN, Nana Musa highlighted relevance of media participation in awareness creation in the pension industry adding that the association will partner with stakeholders in driving the growth of the sector.
