Insecurity: UniAbuja Begins 24hrs Security Patrol, Employs Hunters – Pro-Chancellor

The University of Abuja has disclosed plans to commence 24-hour security patrol as part of effort to ensure the safety of staff and students.  Pro Chancellor of the Institution, Prof Mohammed Modibbo disclosed this at a retreat organised by the Governing Council for principal officers, deans, directors and university-based unions in Abuja. 

He said the institution has also engaged the services of hunters and vigilantes to boost its security following a recent incident of abduction of some staff and family members by bandits. 

Modibbo who spoke on some of the challenges bedeviling the Institution including cases of sexual harassment and highlighted measures been put in place to address them. also reacted on the theme of the one day conference advocated innovative ways of enhancing additional funding for the institutions.  Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education,  Sonny Echono, while declaring the retreat open urged the nation’s universities be proactive to address their challenges, particularly in the area of sustainable funding. 

The Theme of the retreat is “Navigating Myriad of Challenges in Managing Universities on Today’s World.
