President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on his re-election, describing the renewed mandate as an opportunity to strengthen relations between Nigeria and Brazil.
In a statement signed by Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu noted that the friendship between the two countries dates back to 1961 and said both nations have a shared responsibility as leading countries of the Global South to promote economic integration and advance common interests.
The Nigerian leader said he looked forward to expanding bilateral cooperation across several sectors, including trade and investment, agriculture and food security, energy, oil and gas, manufacturing, science and technology, education, aviation, and cultural exchange.
Tinubu also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to working with Brazil to strengthen multilateral cooperation and pursue shared priorities in Africa, South America, and the wider Global South.
“Your renewed mandate offers an opportunity to strengthen the longstanding friendship between Nigeria and Brazil,” the President said.
He expressed confidence that relations between both countries would continue to grow during Lula’s new term and wished the Brazilian leader a successful tenure in office.
The statement underscored Nigeria’s interest in deepening engagement with Brazil, one of Latin America’s largest economies and a longstanding diplomatic partner.
