The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Retirees Association (JRA) has pledged its support for the Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, and expressed readiness to contribute its wealth of experience to the continued growth and development of the Board.

The association made the pledge at the Boards headquarters during a courtesy visit to the Registrar, during which it introduced the forum, comprising former staff members described as “Senior Citizens,” and congratulated him on his leadership.

The association also assured the Registrar of its willingness to provide institutional guidance and advisory support whenever required.

In an address delivered by the JRA President, Mr. Ibrahim Maska Abdulkadir, who was represented by a former Director of Admissions, Mrs. Ann Momoh, the association commended the Registrar for several initiatives, including his engagement with former Registrars and stakeholders, pursuit of ISO certification, and commitment to staff welfare.

The association further requested a letter of no objection from the Registrar to facilitate its registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

Responding, Prof. Aina commended the association for the visit and expressed the Board’s willingness to draw on the experience and expertise of its retired personnel whenever the need arose.

On the request for a letter of no objection, the Registrar stressed the importance of protecting JAMB’s hard earned reputation, noting that the Board’s activities were regulated by the Federal Ministry of Education and that due diligence was therefore necessary.

He also expressed concerns about the association’s ability to maintain unanimity among its members over time, noting that the possibility of dissenting opinions could not be ruled out. He consequently advised the association to involve its legal team in further discussions on the matter.

The Registrar clarified that, while he personally identified with the group as an individual, the Board would need to critically examine the proposed framework of the association before taking a position.

He assured the delegation that the Board’s decision on the request would be communicated in due course, following the necessary consultations.
