Shi’ite Members Kick As Security Operatives Abort Procession, Protest in Abuja

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria has expressed dismay over the unwarranted attack of its members by the combined team of security operatives in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, while observing their religious obligation known as Arba’een procession. The El-Zazaki led movement’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Musa at a news conference on the aftermath of the attack around Gwarinpa Model City in the nation’s capital said the action resulted to casualty on their part. Channel Network Afrique, CNA, however, could not verify the authenticity of the video of the alleged killing of the IMN members as claimed by the spokesman. It would be recalled that in July 2019, the Federal Government secured a court order from Abuja Division of the Federal High Court to proscribe the Shiite Islamic Movement of Nigeria. Despite the proscription, the El-Zazaki group continued with its agitation for the freedom of its leader which finally yielded in 2021. The face-off between the group and the Nigerian security operatives however, subsist.
