The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a consequential adjustment to the campaign timeline for the Osun State governorship election following a shift in the election date.

Mohammed Kudu Haruna, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, recalled that INEC had earlier, on February 26, 2026, released a revised timetable for the 2027 general election, which moved the Osun governorship poll forward by one week from August 8 to August 15, 2026.

As a result of the new date, the commission stated that political campaigns in the state will now end at midnight on Thursday, August 13, 2026. The adjustment aligns with Section 98(1) of the Electoral Act 2026, which mandates that campaigns must stop 24 hours before election day.

INEC called on political parties, candidates, and other stakeholders to comply strictly with the updated schedule.

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to conducting free, fair, credible, and inclusive elections.
