Xenophobic Attacks: South African High Commission’s Meeting With Nigerian Students Turns Bloody
This is what played out outside the South African high commission immediately the Acting South African High commissioner, Bobby Moroe met with some officials of youth organisations and the University of Abuja. Briefing newsmen to set the record straight, the National President of NAN’S, Danielson Akpan said those who claimed to be representing Nigerian students were there for selfish reasons Akpan said NANS decided to boycott the meeting because of its earlier position not to be part of any negotiations if the wanton killings of Nigerians was not stopped. Earlier the Acting High commissioner of South African had disclosed that an eight man committee drawn from the youth and student bodies in Nigeria had been constituted and will be undertaken a voyage to South Africa where they will interact with Nigerians living in that country.
