CPS, DBS, Magic wands That Transform Nigeria’s Pension Scheme – Stakeholders.

It was a gathering of major stakeholders of the pension sector, from the regulators, to the trade union, private sectors and the security agencies to reflect on the enormous milestones attained in the Nigerian pension reform system.

The conference organised by Pension Correspondents Association of Nigeria, PENCAN with the theme, 20 years of Pension Reform Act: Gains, Challenges and Prospects was aimed at measuring performances in the sector so far.

The forum also created a conducive environment for the participants to brainstorm on how to enhance Nigeria’s Pension Scheme to meet international best practices. The Acting Director General, National Pension Commission, Omolola Oloworaran, represented by the Head, Corporate Communications Department, Ibrahim Buwai spoke on the giant stride recorded in the Contributory Pension Scheme.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal, Hassan Abubakar, represented by the Director, Veterans Affairs, Air Vice Marshal, Chidi Obiabaka spoke on the significance of the conference to their operations. Some stakeholders spoke on how lack of awareness often engenders inaccurate perceptions about the scheme.

The PENCAN 2024 conference came to a close with the presentation of awards to strategic stakeholders that played significant roles in the repositioning and enhancement of the nation’s pension scheme.
