NUC To Provide Guidelines For The Conduct Of University Ceremonies.
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has raised concerns over the decline in the conduct of Ceremonies and Special Lectures which constitute the hallmark of a university and tertiary education.
The Executive Secretary of NUC, Chris Maiyaki disclosed this during a retreat organized by the commission for the members of governing councils of universities in Abuja.
Maiyaki said the unique ceremonial occasions have lost the aura for which they were once known and cherished, hence the decision by the Commission to work with relevant stakeholders to establish the minimum guidelines for the conduct of university ceremonies.
The NUC boss who highlighted some of the reforms undertaken by the commission to reposition the nations University system, urged the Council’s members to enthrone a legacy of good governance values, principles and best practices in their respective institutions.
The Governing Council members are to oversee the affairs of the 62 federal universities in the country.
