Naija Drone Soccer League Targets Youths For Careers In Aviation, Advanced Technology
The Naija Drone Soccer League (NDSL) is targeting Nigerian youths for careers in aviation and advanced technology through drone soccer, an initiative designed to promote practical learning in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The Chief Executive Officer of the league, Lieutenant Coopwood, made this known at the North-Central Combine held at Starville School, Jahi, Abuja, where he called on schools, government institutions and private sector organisations to support the development of the sport.
Coopwood said drone soccer offers young Nigerians an opportunity to explore drone technology through an engaging sporting activity that encourages creativity, teamwork, problem solving and hands on technical learning.
According to him, the initiative goes beyond sporting competition by equipping participants with skills in drone operation, maintenance, repairs and programming, while providing a pathway towards designing and building their own unmanned aircraft.
Speaking at the event, the President of the Naija Drone Soccer League, Sam Gaadi, said the exercise would provide opportunity to identify prospective players and develop participants’ skills in drone technology.
Some participants also expressed optimism that involvement in drone soccer would broaden their career prospects in aviation, science and technology, describing the initiative as an opportunity to acquire practical knowledge and explore emerging career paths.
