There is no doubt that the National minimum wage is long due for a review. This is as the current economic realities in the country make the N30,000 minimum wage look very ridiculous.

However, as the Federal Government and the Organised Labour continue to negotiate for a new minimum wage, Nigerians want the process quickly concluded.

Speaking with Channel Network Afrique, some of the workers expressed worry over the delay in arriving at an agreement while the living situation in the country worsens.

They also criticized the proposed 62 thousand naira minimum wage by the government, describing it as grossly inadequate.

The workers further urged the government to initiate policies that will grow the small and medium enterprise sub sector, which they said is critical to addressing unemployment and other economic related challenges in the country.

As the impasse continues, the workers rest their hope for a consensus that will bring the much needed relief and stability to the economy.
