The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun says Rivers Police officers deployed to barricade local government headquarters in the state will remain at the headquarters until the issue which is before a court of competent jurisdiction is ruled on and judgment passed.
The Police boss gave the indication at a conference with strategic Police Managers, held at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. He said the measure is to forestall further escalation of violence that arose from the tenure elongation of LG chairmen in the state.
The IGP also reacted to the alleged disagreement between the Nigerian Police Force and the Police Service Commission (PSC), over the just concluded recruitment exercise.
Egbetokun also used the opportunity to outlined some significant achievements in the Nigeria Police Force in the last one year, which also coincides with his 365 days in office.
