Given the clear Realization that States and Federating Units like the Federal Capital Territory cannot depend solely on Federal Allocation for survival, The FCT Internal Revenue Service was created in 2015 in order to path way for the FCT and it’s Area Councils to efficiently generate revenue from their activities and channel it to the development of the Nation’s Capital. But Overtime, The Sharing Formula and issues of multiple taxation have raised controversy between FCT-IRS and Area councils. This maybe the reason why the FCT-IRS organized a Board Retreat in Abuja to rub minds with Councils Chairmen to harmonize the imposition of tax collection in the FCT.
