Skills acquisition: NUC Tasks African Universities On Partnership.
African Universities have been advised to forged global partnership with like-minded Institutions that will provide students with skills needed for employment.
Acting Executive Secretary of National Universities Commission, NUC, Chris Maiyaki, who gave the advice at the 3rd Annual Conference of the Forum for Innovation in African Universities, held in Abija, said embracing international collaborations, will assists the universities to tap into a wealth of expertise, resources, and opportunities for their students and faculties.
He traced the relevance of such collaborations to reasons why the commission championed the development of guidelines for the implementation of Transnational Education, TNE, in Nigeria. Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, David Adejoh in his remarks commended the FIAU initiative, especially as it promotes knowledge exchange among regional and global partners to support African universities.
Also speaking at the event the Director General, Industrial Training Find, Joseph Ari, said the Fund since 50 years of its existence has been at the forefront of innovation with varying degrees of impact on the sectors of the economy including Higher Education.
The theme of the global conference is “Strengthening Africa’s Higher Education in a post-COVID-19 world.”
