Insecurity: CDS Takes Security Parley To South East,Meets Retired Military Officers.

The Defence Headquarters has assured of the Armed forces of Nigeria (AFN) commitment towards improving the security situation in the South- East (SE) Region and the Nation at large. The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor who gave the assurance at the Chief of Defence Staff’s interaction with retired senior military officers in the Southeast zone held in Owerri, Imo State said the AFN in synergy with other security agencies are in the forefront of redressing various security threats in the country. The Defence Chief also noted that the current agitations in the south East zone has made the security situation very peculiar noting that a good number of those who are in support of such agitations have wrong understanding of the realities on ground. General Irabor who described the engagements with the military veterans in the Region as useful stated that with their privileged and distinct positions, they could bring greater understanding to stakeholders as well as disabuse the misconceptions and perceptions of the agitators in the region. Track up In his opening remarks the Chief of Defence Civil Military Cooperation (CDCMIC), Rear Admiral Fredrick Ogu said the input of the retired senior officers will proffer lasting workable solutions to prevailing security threats the region. Track up Some of the participants at the ocassion includes former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Azubuike Ihejirika, the Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Frank Oparah, Imo State Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro and his counterpart in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mike Ogar among others.
