Why FG should rethink Mobility to reduce Road Crashes- FRSC.

The Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) has emphasized the need for Government at all levels and partners to rethink mobility with a mindset to providing access to safe , affordable, resilient, low emission and sustainability systems that will create livable cities that fulfil the mobility needs of all.

The FRSC Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu who stated this in a joint press conference on the activities to mark the 7th United Nations Global Road Safety week in Abuja said over 13 million person’s have died as a result of road traffic crashes with over 50million injured each year Globally.

Corp Marsha Biu further stated that this year’s edition of the UN Global road Safety week focuses in sustainable transport with the slogan #RethinkMobility which necessitates the need to shift to walking, cycling and using public transport.

Addressing journalist shortly after the Joint press conference, the Representative of the Civil Society Organisation and Non Governmental Organizations, James Subairu who stated that safety is for everyone urged data management bodies on need to provide accurate data of road traffic crashes for desired interventions.

The United Nations developed the Global plan for the decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 with an ambitious target to reduce road traffic deaths and injuries by 50% by 2030.

The theme of this year’s edition which was unveiled by the FRSC boss is “Sustainable Transport”.
