Food Insecurity: Stakeholders Call For Increased Budgetary Allocation To Agriculture.

The need to improve budgetary allocation to the Agricultural sector for enhanced food security and gender mainstreaming In the country has once again been emphasized at a one day workshop in Abuja.

Speaking at the OSAID project close out and dissemination interface, the country director OXFAM,Vincent Ahonsi advocated reasons why the institutional capacity of farmers, particularly women in the agricultural sector in Adamawa and Kebbi states respectively should be strengthened.

He said the initiative when implemented will give farmers more access to quality farm inputs and mechanization that will contribute to the economic development of the country through agriculture.

Enoch Bamaiyi is the project director, he said OSAID has provided finance and technical skills to over 80,000 households to boost their asset and enhance their livelihood.

In their good will message, representatives from the beneficiary states commended the sponsors of the project for strengthening the institutional capacity of farmers and reduce the gap of inequality in their communities.

The OSAID project which started in August 2021 is aimed at strengthening commodity market system to help the poor.
