The National Automotive Design and Development Council has called on the Central Bank of Nigeria to set up a special intervention fund for the automobile sector.
The Director General, Jelani Aliyu who made the call at an interactive session with news men in Abuja said the apex bank should look into the auto sector just like what it did to key sectors of the economy like agriculture, power, aviation and health among others.
He said such gestures will help in creating jobs for Nigerians He also spoke on strides recorded by the agency.
It would be recalled that in 2021, the Federal Government announced plans to launch a Vehicle Finance Scheme that would help Nigerians own new cars.
This was part of the 5-point comprehensive programme of the National Automotive Industry Development Plan which is targeted at promoting local production of vehicles and their parts.
