House Adhoc Committee To Invite Former President Obasanjo In Petition Against TotalEnergies EP Nig Ltd.
The adhoc committee of the House of Representative will tomorrow continue it’s investigation in the alleged wrongful termination of employment of Comrade Igbini Emmanuel, an Employee of Elf Petroleum Nig. Ltd now TotalEnergies EP Nig Ltd on 9th August 2000.
The committee led by Rt Hon. Kwamoti Laori summoned Senator Heineken Lokpobiri Minister of State for Petroleum, Oil, Engr Gbenga Komolafe Chief Executive of Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC and Mr Bouyer Matthieu, Managing Director of the TotalEnergies EP Nig. Ltd to appear before it on Monday, December 9th, 2024 as critical Witnesses and RESPONDENT in the matter.
Comrade Igbini who was former Labour Leader of the Company in the 1990s claimed in his Petition that on August 9, 2000, heavily armed men in Police uniform invited by the Management of the Company invaded his Port harcourt Office, assaulted and threw him out over his activities as a labour leader in the company that exposed massive Crude Oil theft, Corruption, Racism, unlawful termination of employments of Nigerian Workers and inhuman treatment of Workers of the Company by the French Management of the Company led by Mr Loik Le Floch-Prigent who has since been found guilty of the crimes and sentenced to Prison in France.
The Committee may summon former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Comrade Festus Osifo (National President of PENGASSAN) as critical Witnesses in view of the fact that the Managing Director of TotalEnergies EP Nig. Ltd had recently presented a Document to the Committee which he claimed was the Written Approval given to the Managing Director of the Company by President Obasanjo, acting then as the Nation’s Substantive Minister of Petroleum Resources, to terminate the Employment of Comrade Igbini.
This Document is alleged to have been forged with the former president expected to testify before the committee to confirm it’s authenticity.
Comrade Festus Osifo is to be summoned to come testify on the role played by PENGASSAN in the Management’s Decision to deny Comrade Igbini his Constitutional Right to belong to PENGASSAN and to enjoy its protection and job Security guaranteed to all Nigerian senior staff of the Petroleum Companies who are above the age of 16 years as provided by the PENGASSAN Constitution.
