Non-Oil Export Trading, Key To Economic Growth, Poverty Reduction – NEPC

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council has called on Nigerians to urgently engage on non-oil export trade, a viable means of economic growth and poverty reduction.

The Executive Director, NEPC, Ezra Yakusak, made the appeal at a media retreat organised for members of Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria, CICAN, in Abuja.

He said non-oil export trade has the potential to promote industrial development as well as boost foreign exchange earnings of the country. The NEPC boss however, solicited media support to drive the economic diversification mandate through repositioning Nigeria’s non-oil export.

He added that the retreat was organised to deepen the knowledge and understanding of the media on the agency’s mandate of developing and promoting non-oil export.

The NEPC’s Director of Product Development, Evelyn Obidike, highlighted need for value addition on products and services essential in promoting non-oil exports.

The theme of the one day retreat is, “Diversifying the economy: The role of NEPC.”
