There is no doubt that the menace of irregular migration has contributed to challenges of insecurity and increasing transnational activities across Nigeria’s international borders. As part of efforts to change the narrative, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in collaboration with Konrad Adenauer Foundation Organised a capacity building worship for it’s Public Relations Officers across the country aimed at improving the skills of it’s personnel’s as well as upscaling their capability in addressing the menace.

Represented by the Assistant Comptroller General, Usman Abdullahi, the CGI said noted that the training will impact on the service kinetic efforts in tackling irregular migrants.
Earlier, the Director, Private Sector, ECOWAS commission, Dr Tony Elumelu admonished the participants to be good representatives of the service, saying they are the face of Africa in Migration management and must effect the change the country deserves.
The service in July 2022 constituted the Management Board of the Objects of Smuggling of Migrants Trust Fund to deepen its efforts at encouraging humane, orderly and safe migration as well as deal decisively with migrant smugglers anywhere they are caught in the country.
