As political parties continue to strategies ahead of the 2023 general elections, a non governmental organization under the auspices of PUSH AFRICA has tasked politicians to give priority to poverty alleviation policies in their manifestos.
Convener of the Group, Doris Egbaramen gave the indication at the launch of the DO ONE THING campaign in Abuja.
She said the initiative is targeted to drive a nationwide campaign on poverty related issues with the overall objectives to alleviate the economic hardship in the country.
The platform Egbaramen added will also seek to draw the attention of the would be leaders of the next political dispensation to the nation’s poverty profile and the urgent need to change the narrative.
The essence of the required political will to drive the process was also mentioned by the Group. A 2022 survey indicates that 88.4 million people in Nigeria live in extreme poverty.
