INEC To unveil 2027 Election Readiness Plan As Countdown Hits 100 days

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, brief Nigerians on its preparations for the 2027 General Election as the countdown to the polls hits 100 days.

The Commission will hold a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders’ Meeting in Abuja, where it is expected to provide updates on key aspects of the electoral process, including the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and measures being put in place to safeguard the integrity of the elections.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman, Adedayo Oketola,the chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, will address the gathering alongside other key stakeholders involved in the electoral process.

The national stakeholders’ meeting is part of the Commission’s efforts to promote transparency, strengthen public communication and deepen collaboration among actors in the electoral ecosystem ahead of the 2027 polls.

Expected at the meeting are political party leaders, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, civil society organisations, election observer groups, disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives.

The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BAT-ICC), Abuja.

Attendance is strictly by invitation. Accredited media representatives and invited guests are required to present their invitation cards or accreditation badges at security checkpoints.

The event will also be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed on INEC’s official social media platforms.
