The Nigerian Embassy in Beijing and its consulates across China remain fully committed to protecting the legal rights, academic standing, and general welfare of all Nigerians residing in or visiting the country.

Speaking in Beijing during an interactive session with three visiting senior Nigerian journalists, Nigeria’s Ambassador to China, Abdulrahman Dambazau, reaffirmed that consular protection for the Nigerian diaspora including students, business owners, and travelers is a strict institutional duty.

Ambassador Dambazau highlighted several operational priorities across the embassy in Beijing and consulate-generals in Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.

Dambazau stated that the mission works closely with host authorities to ensure Nigerians facing legal issues or serving sentences receive a fair deal under China’s legal framework.

The embassy also coordinates with Chinese immigration on visa extensions for students and manages deportation protocols when necessary.

To improve emergency response times, the ambassador encouraged Nigerian business associations and independent travelers to notify the diplomatic mission of their movements upon entering China.

Ambassador Dambazau noted that Nigeria is studying how China maintains stability across 33 provinces, 50 ethnic groups, and over 300 dialects.

He emphasized that learning from China’s structured five-year development planning and diversity management could help Nigeria reduce internal ethnic or religious friction and focus national energy on long-term development.
