Nigeria’s Ambassador to China, Abdulrahman Dambazau, says a well-defined diplomatic strategy is driving the mission’s work in Beijing to ensure Nigeria gets the best out of its long-standing relationship with China.
In an interactive session with Nigerian media representatives, Dambazau explained how he uses established diplomatic pillars to guide his daily engagements with Chinese business and political leaders.

The 2024 Comprehensive Strategic Partnership: A bilateral agreement designed to drive industrial growth and mutual trade.
FOCAC Commitments: Leveraging the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation to enhance people-to-people exchanges, trade, and regional security.
Dambazau emphasized that understanding China’s goals is key to protecting Nigeria’s own national priorities in critical sectors such as energy, food security, and defense.
”In all my discussions with business and political groups, I make sure I understand where they are coming from and where they are headed,” Dambazau said. “That gives us the leverage we need to align strategies and maximize Nigeria’s interests every step of the way.”
