The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says it is ready for the conduct of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Area Council Election scheduled for February 12th, 2022.
INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu gave the indication at a stakeholders Forum held in Abuja.
Prof Yakubu in his keynote remarks said major activities to the build up of the poll including the training of adhoc staff, deployment of Non-sensitive materials and procurement of Non Pharmaceutical materials among others have been concluded by the Commission.
He further used the occasion to assure the people of the FCT of the commissions unwavering commitment to deliver a credible,free and fair election.
As expected the stakeholders meeting was attended by Party chieftains,key electoral stakeholders including the FCT minister Mohammed Bello who lauded INEC’s effort in improving the electoral process and pledged the administrations support for a hitch free poll.
Meanwhile,the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba represented by DCP Basil Idego, says the police will leave no stone unturned to ensure the poll is peaceful and reflects the wishes of the people.
The Forum which later went into a close door session was rounded up with the Signing of Peace accord by Chairmen of participating Political Parties.
