Analysts are of the view that corruption has brought severe negative consequences on the economic growth and development in Nigeria. President Muhammadu Buhari upon assuming office in May, 2015 launched an anti-corruption drive to change the narrative. As part of measures to complement the efforts of the government in the fight against corruption, a faith based organization under the aegis of Priests Peace and Justice Initiative organized Mentors and Mentes workshop in Abuja focusing on mobilising Christians against corruption. The Executive Director of the organization, Otive Igbuzor noted that the objective of the training is to teach Pentecostal Christians how to make a difference in whatever positions or wherever they find themselves. In the efforts to live a life devoid of corrupt practices, the Christians were admonished to Shun Corruption, Stand Against Corruption and Speak Against Corruption everywhere and every time. According to the organizers, the shun corruption campaign of Priests Peace and Justice Initiative that started in 2018 is entering its second phase with the same mandate of mobilizing Christians against all forms of gratification in the country.
