The issue of Gender based violence has continued to attract diverse intervention measures particularly as it affects the female folks who are mostly vulnerable during conflicts. This is why the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Dame Pauline Tallen is appealing for more advocacy as a way out to change the narrative. At a working visit to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja, the minister further made case for increased women participation in the military. Responding, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor said the contributions of women to peace and conflict resolution cannot be overemphasized. He assured of ongoing efforts to recruit more women in the nation’s armed forces. Other highlights of the visit includes the call for more support for the military in the fight against Terrorism, Banditry and other security concerns in the country.
