The role of diplomacy in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria and the West African sub-region cannot be over-emphasised. This was the submission made by the President, Association of Foreign Relations Professionals of Nigeria Ambassador, Gani Lawal at a news briefing in Abuja ahead of its third annual lecture and conference. He said the association aim at impacting Nigeria’s foreign policy in a positive light through mentoring of upcoming diplomats. Noting that Nigeria and other West African countries have been ravaged by act of terrorism, insurgency, and other transborder crimes, which informed the choice of topic for the lecture to proffer diplomatic solutions to the identified scourge. The theme for this year’s lecture is, the Role of Diplomacy in Combating Terrorism and Insurgency in West Africa.
