As part of efforts to strive towards world best practices, the Federal Fire Service has disclosed plans to set up arms bearing unit. Controller General of the service, Liman Ibrahim who gave the Indication at a news conference in Abuja says the bill for the establishment of the unit if passed by the national assembly will help address cases that includes mob harassments of it’s personnel at fire scenes. The fire boss added that the move would further strengthen the Service especially as it relates to observing all safety standards in the discharge of its statutory responsibility. The fire boss while acknowledging a rising trend of inferno cases in the country said the service was able to attend to 986 fire calls in the first quarter of 2021. Earlier, before the briefing 59 personnel of the Service including 4 deputy comptroller generals,14 assistant comptroller generals,9 controllers,11 deputy comptrollers and 26 assistant comptrollers were decorated to their new ranks.
