Nigeria Will Soon Begin Printing Of E- passports Locally- Babandede

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service(NIS), CGI Muhammad Babandede has assured Nigerians that the service would soon commence the printing of passports in Nigeria. This is in view of controversy surrounding the present contractual agreement with a foreign company, an indication that may have prompted the directive by President Mohammadu Buhari for printing of Nigerian passport by indigenous firms. While addressing a press conference at the Service Headquarters in Abuja, the NIS CG clarified the development and assured of ongoing efforts to comply with the presidential directive. Babandede further highlighted challenges responsible for shortages in supply of passport booklets. Critical issues like border security also top the agenda of the briefing. Other highlights of the engagement includes a tour of the newly established Technology building of the Service, an indication the NIS boss said is key to finding solutions to the nation’s security concerns
