The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has congratulated the United States President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on their successful inauguration January 20, 2021 despite the political upheavals that shook the foundations of the country’s democracy on January 6.

According to a statement by IPAC Chairman, Dr Leonard Nzenwa, the will of the people as expressed in the ballots resulted to the orderly handover of power.

The American people have won, democracy has prevailed and sanity restored in the polity. This should be time to heal after a contentious election. Americans should now settle for the tasks of building a better and greater democratic nation,he said.

IPAC commends President Biden for promptly rescinding President Trump administration’s travel ban on some countries including Nigeria in his first day in office among other executive orders he issued.

The body also welcome development that will boost tiers between the two countries as Nigerians look forward to the US assistance in the fight against terrorism, insurgency and banditry in the country as well as COVID-19 pandemic that has stagnated our economy.

“As a major development partner, IPAC expects a robust political engagement that will strengthen Nigeria’s democratic institutions in our quest for a strong, virile, stable, united and equitable democratic society”.

The Council further applauds Americans for their patriotism in safeguarding their entrenched democracy and wishes President Biden success in his efforts to heal, unite, and restore US glory and influence as a formidable superpower many nations look up to for sustainable democracy and prosperity.
