Group Applauds Akwa’s Appointment As NDDC Boss.
President Mohammadu Buhari has been commended for appointing Barrister Effiong Akwa as the Sole Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission. Deputy National Coordinator of the Niger Delta Support Group for Buhari, NDSGB Evangelist Caroline Nagbo who gave the indication at a news conference in Abuja, further described the appointment as a stop gap measure by the President to ensure there is no leadership vacuum especially in the going Forensic Audit exercise in the Commission. Nagbo however solicited the support and cooperation of the South South region to enable the new NDDC administrator deliver on his mandate. The recent protest by some youths masquerading as Urhobo Youths against Akwa’s appointment was also top on the agenda of discuss at the briefing. It is expected that the Ongoing Forensic Audit of the NDDC will be completed by the end of March 2021 after which a new substantive Board of the Commission would be appointed.
