The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has denied media reports alleging that it has increased its registration fees, describing the claims as false, misleading and entirely unfounded.

In a statement issued in Abuja, JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, said the approved registration fees remain unchanged.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the approved registration fees remain as follows,” the statement read:
Direct Entry (DE): ₦5,700
UTME Only (without Mock): ₦7,200
UTME with Mock: ₦8,700
Breakdown of Fees:
Application Fee – ₦3,500
Reading Text – ₦1,000
CBT Centre Registration Service Charge – ₦700
CBT Centre UTME Service Charge – ₦1,500
Bank Charges – ₦500
CBT Mock-UTME Centre Charge – ₦1,500

Benjamin noted that the fees have remained unchanged since 2019.

He recalled that in 2018, the Federal Executive Council approved a reduction of the UTME application fee from ₦5,000 to ₦3,500, effective from the 2019 registration exercise. Since the government approved reduction, he said, the Board has maintained the same fee structure despite rising operational costs.

JAMB urged prospective candidates, parents and guardians to disregard the publication and rely solely on official information released through its verified platforms and advertisements.

The Board also advised candidates to carefully read its official advertisement to avoid being misled or exploited by dishonest individuals or centres.

Furthermore, JAMB appealed to any candidate who has paid more than the approved fees to promptly report such centres with credible evidence, assuring that it would investigate and take disciplinary action against any centre found culpable of overcharging or engaging in sharp practices.

The Board reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability and the protection of candidates’ interests.
