The Group at a solidarity march to the headquarters of INEC in Abuja described the election as a significant demonstration that Nigeria’s electoral process can deliver credible and competitive elections, saying the performance of INEC under Amupitan had strengthened public confidence in the ballot.
National organizing secretary of the Action Peoples Party comrade Obed Agu who led the group said Amupitan has demonstrated that the credibility of an electoral umpire ultimately depends on the courage, independence and integrity with which its leadership performs its constitutional responsibilities.
Receiving the delegation on behalf of the INEC leadership, National Commissioner and chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, commended the visit saying the commission is ever determined to free fair and credible elections.
Earlier at a news conference, several speakers affirmed that the Osun election should serve as a benchmark for the 2027 general elections, urging all stakeholders to build on the experience rather than regard it as an isolated success.
