Presidential Election: Buhari Defeats Atiku At Tribunal.
The Presidential Elections Petitions Tribunal has struck out the petition of the PDP and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar challenging the victory of president Buhari in the February 23 presidential election. In a unanimously judgement delivered by the chairman of the panel of Judges, Justice Mohammed Garba, the tribunal established that the PDP and its candidate failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt, any of the issues it had brought before the tribunal. All the five issues raised by the PDP and Atiku, to which the petition was premised upon, were resolved against them for failure to provide substantial evidence to prove their claim. The tribunal had earlier on ruled on all preliminary applications raised during the pre-hearing stage, including striking out the application to include vice president Yemi Osinbajo as a co-winner of the election, educational qualification of president Mohammadu Buhari as well as claims that security agents were used to rig the 2019 presidential election in favour of Buhari and the APC.
