The wife of Nigeria’s Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima has called on the newly inaugurated career diplomats to place Nigeria first in their various place of responsibility.
She made the call at the graduation ceremony of the 26th Regular Course of the Foreign Service Academy, in Abuja.
She said the onus to project Nigeria’s image in line with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to the global community rest on their shoulders.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar said plans are on to modernise the nation’s diplomatic training framework through the integration of Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies which is a major step towards strengthening Nigeria’s foreign policy and global engagement.
The Minister who represented Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima said the nation’s global representation must be anchored on competence, ethical conduct, and strategic thinking, especially in the rapidly evolving diplomatic landscape.
The Director, Foreign Service Academy, Ambassador Chikezie Ogu on his part urged the new diplomats not to compromise but uphold the highest ethical standard and respect for their host countries.
The Director General, Nigerian Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed, represented by the Director training, Ambassador Musa Abubakar, advised the newly inaugurated career diplomats to adherence to the rules and regulations guiding public service as well as shun unnecessary competitions that may be inimical to the nation.
